Torrontés is an Argentinian white wine that has flowery aromatics, and flavours of peach and lemon zest. While the wine smells like sweet rose petals, it is often made in a dry style. This makes for an interesting contrast as the sweet fragrance of this wine contradicts it’s lean, and almost salty taste.
Torrontés is an excellent match with spicy Indian, Asian, and Thai Cuisine. Coconut Curry, Teriyaki Seitan, Chicken Satay, Thai Spice Peanut Dishes, or anything that contains chicken, fish, shrimp, and tofu will dance well with this elegant wine.
For veggies, this wine is excellent with Spiralized Zucchini (zoodles), carrots, cauliflower, bell peppers, onion, and butternut squash.
Torrontés can refer to three different types of varieties, which may be blended, or stand-alone. The first style is Torrontés Riojano, which is often the drier style, and most popular. Next up for styles, we have Torrontés Sanjuanio and Torrontés Mendocino in which both are often sweeter in style, and a little bit simple in aroma and taste.
