Ravenswood Zinfadel Vintner’s Blend is my go-to wine. It’s a wine I absolutely love as it’s delicious. What you’ll find with this mouth-watering wine are seductive aromas of black cherry, raspberry, blueberry, and a splinter of oak. It pairs with a wide variety of foods, and it’s a wine that is a crowd pleaser. As such, whenever I’m hosting a dinner party, or a BBQ in the backyard, I often uncork a bottle of Ravenswood Zinfandel.

Ranvenswood Zin & BBQ
When serving Ravenswood Zinfandel at a Barbecue, I often explain to people that it goes well with their hamburger as it’s much like ketchup, as Zinfandel is often sweet and slightly tangy. Obviously Ravenswood Zinfandel does not taste like ketchup, but similar to ketchup, it adds a bit of flavour to your burger, and is quite refreshing against the salt.
Ravenswood Zinfandel is also great with anything smothered in Barbecue sauce, as its fruity flavours go well with the tanginess of the various sauces. It will go great with sausages (as long as they aren’t fiery in the spice), hot dogs, steak, and Ravenswood Zinfandel is medium bodied enough to not overpower roasted chicken. This is not a great wine to pair with fish however, as it will dominate the delicate flavours of most fish.
Ravenswood Zinfandel and Pizza
If you’re party is indoors, Ravenswood Zinfandel is a great pair with pizza and red sauce pasta. Again, this is a wine that loves tomato sauce.
Chinese Takeout and Food Pairings
A real eye opener for myself was when I served Ravenswood Old Vine Zinfandel Vintners Blend with Chinese Food Takeout. Everybody in attendance went absolutely bonkers for the combination of the two. Ravenswood went perfect with virtually everything such as the pork fried rice, chicken balls drizzled in sweet and sour sauce, and the Chinese spareribs. It makes sense, as Chinese Takeout tends to be a little sweet, and as this Zinfandel is a little sweet, it matches the body of the food. Furthermore, Chinese takeout is incredibly salty, and a sip of Ravenswood Zinfandel whisks the salt away, quenching your thirst and refreshing your palate.
