Muscadet is a bone-dry, and light-bodied white wine from the Loire Valley of France. Made with the Melon De Bourgogne grape, Muscadet is lean and green, with a salty citrus taste with notes of pear and unripe apple.
Muscadet Wine and Food Pairing
High in acid, Muscadet will stand up to zesty vinaigrettes making this a wonderful wine with salad. It’s also a wonderful partner to asparagus, corn, zucchini, turnip, parsnip, and sunchokes.
Best Wine with Seafood
With its salty and citrus notes, Muscadet is best paired with seafood. Shrimp, Mussels, Oysters, Scallops, Salmon, Sushi, Trout, Bass, Catfish, New England Clam Chowder, Pike, Perch and Sander are all wonderful with this wine. Anything you could imagine adding a squeeze of lemon to, will go great with this tangy white wine, so if you’re not a fan of sea food, pan roasted chicken and fried tofu are all excellent dance partners.
Muscadet is also the original white wine used in Beurre Blanc Sauce, which is common in French cuisine.
