Caesar Salad and Wine Pairing

Caesar Salad and White Wine

The best white wine, in our opinion, with a Caesar Salad would have to be a Sauvignon Blanc.  This is a tasty pairing as the acidity of the Sauvignon Blanc acts as a squeeze of lemon that highlights all the delicious components of a Caesar Salad such as the dressing, bacon and croutons. The acidity of the wine also cuts through the rich and creamy dressing which makes each bite taste fresher.

Grilled Chicken on Caesar Salad

We Love a Pinot Grigio with a simple and clean salad!

Lightly oaked Chardonnay, Pouilly Fumé, Sancerre, Chablis, or a Riesling are other great wines to pair with this classic dish for similar reasons.

Red Wine and Caesar Salad

If you only drink red wine, try serving a Beaujolais.  Beaujolais is a light red wine that is perfect for lunch time drinking (as it’s lower in alcohol).  Fruity, light, and gulpable, Beaujolais goes with just about everything as it’s not an overpowering wine.

Beer and Caesar Salad Pairing

For beer, we’d recommend a Hefeweizen style beer.  Hefeweizen’s is a light-bodied wheat beer, that is quite spritzy with subtle clove and banana-like flavours.  This beer will not clash with the salad dressing, but rather dance with the rich and creamy dressing resulting in a delicious pairing!  If you don’t have a Hefeweizen nearby, try a wheat beer for similar reasons. Kölsch or an American Brown Ale will pair well with Caesar salads as well.
